Allow me to thank you for visiting the website of Our Saviour as you are preparing for marriage and planning your wedding.
Fundamental to Christian marriage in all times is the willingness of husband and wife to commit to mutual, faithful, lasting, joyful and sacrificial love as part of their faith in God. In addition, regular worship at Sunday Eucharist is central to the life of a Catholic. Obviously, there is much more, and there are details. However, it is important not to forget the core.
We are pleased when our parishioners who worship at either the Church or the Chapel choose to exchange their marriage vow in our parish. The easiest way to begin is to speak with one of the priests before or after Sunday Mass
Marriages of Parishioners of Our Saviour to Take Place in other Places
For several reasons couples sometimes choose to exchange their marriage vows in places outside of the parish where they live. We are very pleased to offer our congratulations and assist parishioners who worship at Our Saviour or the Chapel of the Sacred Hearts in this process.
The information form we ask couples to fill out requests some of the needed details. Couples should be aware there are several steps to be undertaken and documents to be gathered and completed. It is worth noting that parishes and dioceses may have somewhat different protocols.
Request From Couples Who Are Not Our Saviour Parishioners
Couples sometimes would like to exchange their vows at a Church other than their own.
While we encourage couples to be married in their own parish, Our Saviour is open to requests from non-parishioners to be married at Our Saviour. The best way to determine if Our Saviour might be an appropriate Church for your wedding is to speak with one of the priests at the parish.
Please contact the Parish Office and we will follow up appropriately. Please fill out this short Wedding/Marriage interview questionnaire.
There is some additional information on the Catholic Marriage Information page.
Thank you again for visiting our website.
BAPTISMS The birth of a child is a joy as a family welcomes a new human life entrusted to their care and nurturing. Congratulations! For Christians, an important next step is to unite the child with the community of faith, the Church, through the sacrament of Baptism. Our Saviour Church is pleased to welcome new members into the Church. During this time of social distancing, we are flexible in scheduling Baptisms, and try to be as accommodating as possible to the circumstances of each family. Baptisms may take place during one of the Sunday Masses. Arrangements for Baptisms should ordinarily be made as soon as possible after the birth of a child. The easiest way to begin the process is to mention to the priest after Sunday Mass you would like to have your child baptized. Those wishing to have their child baptized should read, complete, and return the Baptismal registration form to the Parish office. (212) 679-8166 x210 or by email). The registration form provides basic information needed when arranging a baptism. We will contact you after you complete the Baptismal registration form. “We ask that the parents of the child to be baptized to complete an online preparation course that may be found at this link. For many this will be a good refresher on the basics learned previously. This will be discussed when you speak with the priest about the Baptism. “ We look forward to speaking with you about Baptism and welcoming a new member into our Church.
